Woohoo! Rangers 11 are safely through to the Grand Final next week. They had us chewing our nails in the first quarter but then came away with a comfortable win over Springfield. Great effort to coach Kim Gardner and the girls!
Next up was Rangers 6… Lynda Simpson’s girls were in front from start to finish. Coming away with a 20 goal win over St Josephs. Yippee – see you next week in the Grand Final! Big shout out to Micaela Ward who had to cheer her team on from the sidelines while still recovering from knee surgery.
Rangers 7 have had a tough season with injury and put in a huge effort to make Prelim Finals. Although Michael Fitzgerald’s team put up one hell of a fight to be neck and neck at 3/4 time, unfortunately it wasn’t to be their day yesterday. Nicola Stevens also had to cheer from the sidelines with her broken arm. Great season girls you should be proud of your efforts!
Supporters – At all of the games it was fabulous to see so many Rangers supporters on the sideline. The teams definitely benefited from your support.
Umpires – Our team white girls were also in action having been selected to umpire Prelim finals as well. Looking pretty good girls!
So drag out the pom poms again and come down and support our teams:

Rangers Awards Nomination
What ended up being a very hot day, it was great to see our girls on court giving it their best.
Rangers 13 12 Yrs Div 1 – Cameron Craig’s brave soldiers worked hard but unfortunately were out gunned by Lakers on the day. As usual the girls gave 100% right until the end. Big shout out to Grace who had to be taken to hospital after a nasty fall. Hope you feeling better!
Rangers 8 14/15 Div 5 – Sam and Sarah’s girls have had a fabulous season and have shown great teamwork. Unfortunately Stuartholme got the jump on them early and although our girls worked hard until the end they could not pull back the lead. The girls can be proud that at the end of the game they obviously had nothing left in the tank.
Rangers 9 14/15 Div 6 – Suze’s crew looked good from the start and got out to an early lead and despite Raiders surging towards the end they hang on to win by 7. This puts these girls straight into the Grand Final in 2 weeks. Great effort girls especially as last time these two teams met the scores were reversed.
Rangers 3 Senior Div 3 – John’s crazy gals were just too good yesterday and never looked like loosing from start to finish. It was pretty to watch. This puts this team straight to the Grand Final as well. Well done team 3!
Rangers 10 13 Yrs div 1 – Special mention to this team who showed true Rangers spirit yesterday. It made us proud they are OUR team. Even when the odds seemed against them they just smiled and played harder – very mature for such young girls. They finished equal third on the ladder and have missed out by a few % on goal averages. Great season girls well done!
SO TOMORROW WHY NOT GRAB YOUR POM POMS AND COME AND HELP SUPPORT OUR TEAMS IN THEIR SEMI FINALS:
- Rangers 13 12Yrs Div 1 coached by Cameron Craig on Court 3 against Lakers
- Rangers 8 14/15 Div 5 coached by Sam Leaso & Sarah Blythe on court 16 against Stuartholme. We know this team will have to contend with a busload of supporters so how about we show them our Rangers Spirit!
- Rangers 9 14/15 Div 6 coached by Suze O’Brien on court 17 against Raiders.
- Rangers 10 13 yrs Div 1 coached by Toni Vowles need a win on Saturday to ensure a place in the finals so they could do with some cheering on Court 1.
- Rangers 3 Senior Div 3 coached by John Fearon on Court 8 against Centenary
Good luck girls! Play hard, play fair and have fun!
Teams with 6 in the division, have their last fixture tomorrow. Teams with 8 in the division, it is semi final time. Special shout out to two teams who were just pipped at the post to make finals:
- Rangers 17, 11 Yrs Div 2 coached by Stephanie & Roxanne Dyer missed out on a place in the finals by a 2% goal average. Great season girls!
- Rangers 14, 12 Yrs div 2 coached by Michael & Bri Fitzgerald were moved up a division early in the year and only missed making the finals by 1 point. Exceptional effort!
August must be birthday month – we have another Senior girl who started in nettas turn 21 today. Who are those other young things with her? Happy Birthday Sam, hope you had a great day!
