While most of us were sleeping in on Sunday morning Rangers 6, their coach Kaitlyn Porter and able umpire Emily Turner were attending the Redlands Netball Carnival.
It was a great opportunity to get some extra game time and improve their teamwork so they will be able to hit the court running this Saturday. A fun time was had by all – not to mention quite a few lollies!
Yippee the day finally arrived. What a beautiful day on Saturday to play netball. Great to see everyone enjoying themselves after all the preparation.
A big thank you to all those people who volunteered their time to ensure it was a very well organised day for Rangers. Thank you to the Uniform Ladies who manned the tent for most of the day, this is a big effort and much appreciated. They even had to put the tent up (with some help, thanks John). Thank you Rangers 3 parents (thanks Mick) for packing up.
Also, thanks to Sharon Serow, our able Umpiring Convenor and her merry band of umpires. It was the first day of a new system for umpiring and it went very smoothly. ‘Can’t have a game without an umpire!’
Well done to all the coaches, players and spectators for a great start to the season – especially those that may have been a bit sore today! Special mention to: Rangers 16 (11Yrs div 3) – they were the first game of the day; in their first competitive game; with their first win!
If you want to see the draw and results, they are now on the WDNA website immediately. Congratulations to Wests for getting this information so quickly to us this season. Here is the link www. western.netball.asn.au/competitions.asp. This link is also on the right side of our website under Links.
The lovely uniform ladies will be at the Rangers Tent on Saturday between 8-12. Ordered uniforms can be collected only with payment at these times. If you require a uniform, which has not been ordered, please contact Pam before Saturday as she will not be able to take all of her stock down to the courts.
If you have any queries contact Pam on 0408 734 718.
Lets hope the weather is kinder to us this Saturday. We are all looking forward to finally getting on the court.
Please note that the Walter Taylor Bridge will be CLOSED this weekend. You will need to adjust your travel plans accordingly.
If anyone is a qualified Barista and would like a job in the WESTS canteen. They are looking for someone to work Saturdays from 7am to 1pm. Please send your resume to Sheryl Scanlan at firstname.lastname@example.org
Rangers will have their Club Tent up on Saturday, so look forward to seeing you all there. GO RANGERS!
Training Cancelled 17th April 2013
Due to the rain and storm activity, netball training at 6.30pm and 7.30pm tonight has been cancelled.
Training is back on this week – same time same place. Our first game is this Saturday 20 April. Check the WDNA website for the draw. (there is a link on the right of our website under ‘Links’)
Whilst some of us were enjoying a well earned break several of our girls took advantage of some extra training at the Vicki Wilson Clinic.
They had a fun filled day learning ball skills, attacking and defending skills, team work and a game at the end to round off the day. The most popular session was the fitness with ‘commando’ (or was that just the mothers?)
Well done to our 12 and 13 years players who completed their Basic Umpiring Course at our last training. Thank you to our Umpiring Convenor Sharon Serow and our own National ‘A’ Badge Umpire, Sue Bamford, for ensuring the girls are ready for the season. They were very impressed with the knowledge from the group.
This year WDNA have implemented some significant changes to the umpiring procedure. Each Club must provide an umpire for their own games. ALL umpires must have completed at least a Basic Umpiring Course and successfully completed the On-line exam. Check out our website under ‘Umpiring’ for umpiring resources and information.
Level 1 Umpiring Course: 5 May 2013 at Downey Park 9am-1pm. Anyone interested in obtaining their Umpiring Badge this year must have completed this course.
EVERY UMPIRE NEEDS THEM. WE HAVE FOR SALE: 2013 Rule Book $13 and Whistles $5 – see Chery at training.
If you are interested in umpiring this season please contact Sharon at email@example.com
