Thank you to all those supporters who turned out to cheer our teams on in the Prelim Finals.
Rangers 8 – 12 Yrs Div 1 were on fire from the first quarter in a hard fought clean game against Wildcats. They held off against a late surge from the opposition to come away with a win and go into the grand final next week. Well done to coach Danelle Spasojevic and her team.
Rangers 6– 13 Yrs Div 2 Following on from their giant killing effort last week against Sapphires, the girls played another strong game against a determined Springfield team. All players worked hard in both attack & defence and managed to stay within a few goals of Springfield throughout the match. Supporters were treated to a nail biting final quarter as the girls closed the gap to level the score but unfortunately Springfield managed to draw away again. The girls went down fighting, with the final score being 17-21. Everyone in Rangers 6 is to be congratulated on a great season and fantastic effort in reaching the prelim final. A big thank you to the players from Rangers 8 who not only turned up to cheer us on but formed a guard of honour as Rangers 6 took to the court. What great Rangers spirit!
Rangers 7 – 13 Yrs Div 4 Tammy Goynich’s girls (ably supported by Mum Adrienne) played an awesome game with a massive effort from all. Everyone dug deep to pull out a fantastic win against Brendan’s 19-15. They couldn’t have done it without the fantastic supporters!
Rangers 5 – 14 Yrs Div 2 – In a very even contest against Kenmore Baptist, Kim Gardner’s girls could not build any momentum to pull ahead. Unfortunately they could not repeat last years grand final win and went down by a few goals.
Rangers 1 – A Grade – A great attempt had by our A Grade in the knock out Preliminary Final on Saturday. It was always going to be a hard game playing one of the best teams at WDNA. We just didn’t have enough grit and experience to finish off the challenge. We are almost there – 2013 watch out!!
Rangers 3 – Intermediate 2 – After last week’s disappointment Rangers 3 bounced back in the best possible way. Everything clicked this week. Our shooters missed nothing, defence was confident & committed & our mid court smothered Jindalee out of the game. In what looked a much closer contest eventually winning 50 – 25. Next week’s Grand Final will be a ripper. These girls are playing really attractive netball. All Rangers players & supporters, do yourself a favour, next Saturday 3:30, come & be noisy.
We have six Rangers teams competing in the Prelim Finals tomorrow. Come down and show your support for our teams – GO RANGERS!!

There were plenty of supporters cheering our teams in semi finals and also those playing in their last fixture. None were quite as well dressed as Charles in his ‘Rangers Jacket’!
Rangers 10 – 11 years div 1 were the first team to compete in a knock out semi. What a great effort to make the finals in their first year of competitive netball and in division 1. In the words of their coaches Linda Jenkins and Sue Bamford “The girls played really hard and put in a great effort and that was what we asked of them so we’re very proud ” Unfortunately Bluejays were the winners on the day.
Ranger 8 – 12 Years Div 1 were the next to show their skill. In an epic game where the girls played some of their best netball of the season, they were ahead at the final hooter. Unfortunately their was injury time which allowed St Josephs to draw level. This meant extra time which allowed the opposition to pip us at the post. As the girls finished second on the ladder they will now play in the Prelim final next week. Great effort by the girls who put in a huge effort and made the club proud. Good luck to coach Danelle Spasojevic and the girls next week.
Rangers 7 – 13 Years Div 4 played in a knock out semi final and also kept the supporters on the edge of their seats in a tightly fought contest. Our girls held their nerve and came away with a win over Centenary- by 1 goal! Well done to coach Tammy Goynich, her mum Adrienne Sharp who stood in for her on Saturday, and the girls!
Rangers 3 – Intermediate 2 have finished on the top of the ladder with a undefeated season. Playing a Centenary team that looked very different from the one they had played previously the girls got off to a slow start. With a late surge they were just starting to show their real ability when the hooter went with them falling short by one goal. Coach John Fearon and the players can be proud of a great season by the girls and look forwarded to next week in the Prelim Final.
Rangers 4 – Intermediate 4 were playing at the same time in their semi after finishing second on the ladder for the season. The girls bought their A game and never looked like loosing. They defeated Raiders convincingly. Well done to Anne Head and the girls who go straight to the Grand Final on 1 September.
Happy Birthday to our lovely Registrar, Chelsea Saldumbide. Have a good day Chels!!
