What an exciting day for Grand Final Day and last day for all games.  Rangers is very proud of all of girls who after 15 fixtures and 2 finals made their way to the grand finals.  As usual our girls played in the spirit of the game and play hard til the last whistle.  Win or loose it was nice to see the smiles on all our girls faces.

IMG_0443Rangers 14 – 12 Yrs Div 4 with a similar team that came one short of the grand final went one stop better this year. They were up against a very strong St Joseph’s team and at the half time break were even.  In what was a tightly fought contest they came were pipped at the post.  Great effort girls – one step further next year if your Manager and Coach can stand the strain.

IMG_4916Ranger 9 – 13 Yrs Div 1 had a few hiccups to start with one player unable to attend and then their shooter becoming injured in the warm up.  Thank you to Grace Bobbermien from Rangers 12 -who helped fill the gap.  The girls were unable to get over the top of a Joeys team that hasn’t lost a game.  The girls can feel proud that they gave everything and looked spent a the end of the game.  Great effort girls!

Rangers 8 14/15 Yrs Div 6 – have had a fantastic season with the coach Sharon Serow saying she has had one of the best season coaching.  These girls also had a few injuries and came against a Stuartholme team that had half the school on the side line.  The atmosphere was electric and our girls struggled to gain any momentum and were unable to get on top.  Great effort girls to finish Minor Premiers and make the grand final.

Rangers  7 14/15 Yrs Div 5 – With Sam and Sarah and a very huge crowd supporting them the girls looked ready to shine.  However the St Joseph’s team were just better one the day.  How impressive, this team has only come together this year and have made the grand final.  Wow what can they do next year!

OK all the work is done so lets Celebrate tomorrow at Presentation Day!

Qld CoA Stylised 2LS monoIn the all the finals excitement we forgot to mention our umpires were busy obtaining their level 1 Accreditation in late August. Thanks to the Queensland Government for providing the $9,5730.00 to conduct umpire accreditation training we were able to fund our umpires.

Sharon Serow, Emily Serow, Alanah Jenkins, Sophie Jenkins, Gabby Mansfield, Claire Pritchard and Emily Turner got up early on a Sunday morning to attend this course. We were fortunate that our our A Badged Umpires, Caroline Stevens and Susan Bamford, were able to present – not sure if we a biased but pretty sure they were the best presenters ever!

IMG_0424 IMG_0420What a great opportunity for our umpires to continue to develop their knowledge and skills.  Well done to all involved.

Big thank you to all the supporters who turned out to cheer our girls!  Every Rangers game had a very full spectator bench.  Well done to all our teams who played hard with good sportsmanship – just as Rangers girls do!

IMG_4715Rangers 14 – John Dobrenov’s girls were the first to kick off the day at 9am.  Both teams got off to a shaky start with the Grand Final next weekend in sight.  In what started out as a  tight game against Centenary – scores at 9 all at half time. Our Rangers girls showed true determination to run away with it in the end, winning 21-11.

IMG_4768Rangers 13 – Kim Gardner’s team were next and came up against a very determined Sapphires team.  This team has saved their best netball for the last games and should be very proud with their season having made the Prelim Finals.  Every girl on the court gave their absolute best effort but unfortunately the other team was better on the day.

IMG_4892Rangers 9 – Linda Jenkins & Susan Bamford’s team were playing Lakers, a team they had never beaten.  After an anxious start with their GS falling ill,  a reserve was found in Gabby Mansfield (thanks for stepping up when asked Gabby).  At three quarter time they were two in front and  played hard for the whole quarter to knock Lakers confidence and came away with a convincing win 35-27.

IMG_4855Rangers 6 -Danelle Spasojevic’s team were up against St Joesphs in what was a very fast paced game of netball.  They got off to a slow start and were down by 10 goals at half time.  With true Rangers spirit they dug deep and put in a huge effort to only fall short by 1 goal at the final hooter – another couple of minutes and we’d have had them.  What a brilliant game girls, you can be proud that you gave it everything right to the last minute.

IMG_4825Rangers 7 – Sam Leaso & Sarah Blythe’s girls have had a brilliant season and were only just pipped last week to finish 2nd on the ladder.  In a very tight game against Kenmore Baptist which had the spectators chewing their nails, our girls showed composure in the closing minutes to come away with a win by 1 goal.

Umpires – Susan, Caroline, Emily T, Nicola, Emily S; once again these ladies were doing us proud having been asked by WDNA to officiate in the finals .
