Western Districts Netball Association delivers new era of accountability
Western Districts Netball Association (WDNA) today acknowledged the sentence on Monday of former Association president Deborah Morton, 47, who pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court to fraud.
Current WDNA President Barry Morssinkhof said the Association had fully reviewed its policies and procedures following the discovery of the theft.
“This incident has made the Association re-examine and evaluate its policies to make certain we are completely transparent in our dealings and every cent spent is itemised,” he said.
“We have implemented a number of processes to ensure this will never happen again.”
Mr Morssinkhof said the Association was moving forward and was working hard to restore the reputation and standing of the organisation in the netball and wider community.
Netball Queensland CEO Anna Carroll said Netball Queensland was fully supportive of all processes that improve transparency and accountability of member funds.
No further comment will be made by Netball Queensland or WDNA.

Thank you to all those who attended our AGM and to those who accepted a position. We have some exciting new initiatives for 2014 and a large number of enthusiastic volunteers.
We had a special presentation to our long serving Treasurer, Sharon Myers, who after over 10 years in the position is passing the cheque book to another volunteer. She will be greatly missed but her many hours of hard work and well kept checks and balances will keep the club running smoothly into the future. Thank you very much Sharon!

Our Rangers 2 team (Suze O’Brien, Georgia McNae, Emily Turner, Steph Dyer, Kaitlyn Porter, Rhylee Spasojevic, Georgia Smith, Sarah Blythe, Jane Smith, Chelsea Saldumbie with support staff) celebrated their end of season with another 165 teams from Australia and New Zealand on the Gold Coast this weekend at NetFest 2013! The girls did what they love most – played netball, had lots of laughs and hung out with their friends. What could be better than that?
Everyone had a ball, even star shooter Sarah Blythe who unfortunately sustained an injury – get better soon Sez! Great to see our girls in their Rangers uniforms in the off season. They even managed to cool off in style after a hot day of netty!
Netfest is billed as the “ultimate end of season trip” and from the feedback they may just be right.
